About This Exhibition

Fort Washington Park preserves the remains of one of the fortifications built in 1775 to defend Cambridge from a potential British attack from Boston. Part of the ring of fortifications ordered by George Washington during the Siege of Boston, the earthwork was manned by Continental Army troops. Today, the small park features interpretive signs explaining the fort's role in the Revolution, along with a playground and green space. It's a quiet spot where history meets neighborhood life.
